External Data Protection Officers

DPO Centre's external Data Protection Officer (FG) offers flexible, tailored support, advice and data protection expertise for your organisation.

Find out today how we can help your organisation.

Data Protection Officer as a service

Our outsourcing service provides you with a highly experienced Data Protection Officer who works on site or remotely as a full member of your team.

You benefit from an expert, hands-on data protection professional who takes on the responsibility of the DPO in an extremely cost-effective manner. The FG is supported by shared best practices and model documentation developed from our collaboration with more than 1,000 organizations.

Why you should use a FG from DPO Centre

Although a DPO does not have to be a full-time position, it does require specialist expertise in data protection. An experienced and knowledgeable external FG is a cost-effective solution for improving information security and complying with legislation, such as the GDPR. Failure to protect personal data can not only lead to significant financial fines from regulators (such as the AP), but can also damage your organization's reputation. By following proven methods, an external FG will help protect the personal data your organization processes about your customers, suppliers and employees and will advise you on this. If necessary, the FG will cooperate/coordinate with supervisors on your behalf.

How does the service work?

Unlike other suppliers to whom you can outsource the FG, our FGs work with you, either in your office or remotely, as an integral member of your team. They immerse themselves in your company culture and take a proactive rather than reactive approach to your needs.

Account management

Your DPO activities are monitored and managed by DPO Centre's experienced project implementation team, so they don't take up time or distract from your management team.

The quality of our service is also monitored by our Head of Customer Service, who provides the necessary oversight to ensure that we always provide an appropriate, structured, coordinated and quality-oriented service.

This is one of the most important features of outsourcing and removes the overhead, risks and distractions that your internal employees would otherwise experience. This way they can focus their efforts on the further development of your organisation.

Plan of approach

Our DPOs follow a proven series of activities from an action plan, which has been developed based on experience and collaboration with a wide range of customers. Each element of the plan is linked to the 7 principles of the GDPR, which means we can clearly demonstrate and regularly report where compliance levels are improving and how risk is evolving and decreasing over time.

Model documentation

When you partner with DPO Centre, you have access to our constantly developing and improving central pool of processes and proven model documentation. This means that your assigned FG uses proven documentation and spends only the time necessary to adapt it to your requirements – rather than having you research and prepare it from scratch.

Primary and secondary FGs

When providing an external FG, DPO Centre assigns both a primary and a secondary FG. Both will be involved in your initial onboarding process, so that two FGs become familiar with your organization, stakeholders and data processing.

Your primary DPO takes responsibility for the role within the agreed workload, while the secondary DPO remains available at no additional cost to step in during a period of absence or to replace your primary DPO (if ever necessary). This ensures seamless service and avoids the distraction, costs and inconvenience of having to attract a replacement FG.

Expert advice line

The third level of our “ongoing support framework” is our Advice Line service. The advice line gives you access to our wider team of Data Protection Officers on the remaining days of the month when your nominated Data Protection Officer is not specifically assigned to you at that time or is unavailable, so you can count on a cost-efficient, complete, monthly services.

The advice line gives you immediate answers to your questions or in the event of unexpected incidents. As soon as specific knowledge about your organization or processing activities is required, it will be forwarded to your DPOs for a more detailed or personalized response. Most importantly, the problem now needs to be solved by us, not you.

Large data protection team

Your FG is part of one team of permanently appointed FGs, one of the largest FG teams available, so that they can consult with and draw knowledge from their colleagues. For example, all interpretations of the law and decisions taken are derived from a much broader and more multifaceted knowledge base.

Because they are part of a larger team, this also means that additional resources and specific expertise can be deployed when necessary.

Knowledge and expertise

DPO Centre has provided data protection services to more than 1,000 clients from a wide variety of sectors. This allows our team to boast a much broader knowledge base than a smaller, less experienced team could acquire and maintain.

Benefits of our outsourced data protection services

Thanks to the in-depth knowledge and experience within our team, The DPO Centre's services deliver much more value to your organisation than the services of an independent contractor or smaller data protection team.
